222,300 Australians are employed in the food, beverage and manufacturing industries, including half in rural and regional areas.
Australia’s $110 billion food and grocery manufacturing industry is the nation’s largest manufacturing sector.
Industry grew from $993 million in 2007-08 to $1.07 billion in 2011-12, an increase of 6.5 per cent.
