There is widespread interest in incorporating sustainability into dietary guidelines. While some foods and dietary habits are known to have lower environmental impacts than others, an outstanding questions is what level of change is necessary to be considered sustainable.
This presentation will summarise recent research whereby Australian dietary habits have been assessed relative to planetary boundaries, enabling benchmarking against sustainability limits.

Dr Brad Ridoutt, Principal Research Scientist CSIRO Agriculture and Food Dr Ridoutt is a Principal Research Scientist with Australia’s national science agency – The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). His expertise is in life cycle sustainability assessment in the agriculture and food sectors. His research is creating the main evidence base concerning the environmental impacts of dietary habits in Australia. |
