To enhance nutrition and provide a variety of options for every day healthy eating, food and drink manufacturers in Australia have made some big changes.
These manufacturers are committed to offering tasty, nutritious choices for all consumers. By developing products with reduced sugar and salt, or increased wholegrain, fibre and protein content, they are helping consumers make healthier choices.
Australians love a sweet treat. But we also care more than ever about what’s in our food. That’s why in April 2024, Mondelēz launched a new product under one of its most loved brands – The Natural Confectionery Co. – a range of jellies with 50% less sugar compared to the average amount of sugar present in leading candy jelly products.
The new jellies are made in Australia and are the first local candy product from Mondelēz to earn a 4.5 Health Star Rating.
They’re free from artificial colours, flavours, and sweeteners. There’s also no sugar alcohol. Instead, the recipe includes dietary fibre and natural plant-based sweeteners like stevia, making them a more balanced choice for both kids and adults.
This innovation is part of a broader commitment by The Natural Confectionery Co. to offer more “better-for-you” options that don’t skimp on taste or fun. Reformulating sweet products is notoriously difficult, but Mondelēz believes consumers shouldn’t have to choose between taste and wellbeing.
By bringing forward this 50% Less Sugar range, the brand is showing how health-conscious snacking can still be playful, joyful, and delicious.
Did you know each bag of Natural Confectionery Co. Snakes has two kinds of snakes? One wears groovy sunglasses and has scales. The other is your classic, traditional snake. Next time you grab a handful, see if you can spot both!
