How suppliers and retailers can create lasting value

Stronger partnerships. Greater growth.

Developed in partnership with Advantage Group, How Suppliers and Retailers Can Create Lasting Value brings together the perspectives of retailers and suppliers to examine how effectively the Australian grocery industry is working together.

The report finds that overall engagement improved in 2025, with progress in trust, organisational capability and supply-chain execution. But those gains remain fragile and uneven. Commercial partnerships and brand and category development are under growing pressure as short-term, transactional behaviours displace longer-term collaboration, innovation and shared growth.

The report identifies three priorities for retailers and suppliers:

  • Rebuild trust through reliable execution, transparent communication and consistent follow-through.
  • Shift from transactional negotiations to strategic partnerships built around structured joint business planning and shared accountability.
  • Reignite category growth by investing in insights, meaningful innovation and stronger cross-functional collaboration.
