To enhance nutrition and provide a variety of options for healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, food and drink manufacturers in Australia have made some big changes.
Ferrero believes all foods can be eaten in moderation, as part of a balanced and varied diet, combined with a physically active lifestyle. The company is always looking at how to improve their recipes, keeping quality, taste and consumers’ expectations as central pillars of their products.
A well-rounded lifestyle – for kids and adults – includes not just a healthy diet with occasional treats, but also movement.
Enter, Ferrero’s Joy of moving program in Australia. Here’s how it works: Joy of moving is a play-based program designed to make physical activity inclusive, joyful and purposeful.
Launched in Australia in 2017, the initiative gets kids active, using movement to encourage emotional learning from a young age. Through a collaboration between Monash University and Ferrero, the “Living Lab” more quickly brings evidence-based movement practices directly into the hands of teachers, students, practitioners and families. The goal is to move from research to practice.
The program helps children regulate emotions, build resilience, and develop both physical and emotional literacy, all through movement. Locally, this is done through classroom storybooks, animations, and playful routines designed to support both body and mind.
Ferrero is deeply committed to responsible consumption and marketing. The global Kinder Joy of moving program is part of the company’s broader focus on wellbeing, where smart portion sizes, balanced messaging, and physical movement all come together to support a healthy lifestyle.
And it’s working. The Australian pilot is now a globally recognised version of the model. In 2024, the program was fully embedded within Monash University’s School of Psychological Sciences, cementing its place in research and education for years to come.
The research program has already reached more than 3,586 students across 24 schools in Australia, including nine specialist schools. More than 240 teachers have been trained to deliver the program, and five research papers have been published based on its success.
The global Kinder Joy of moving celebrated 20 years this year, with some big milestones – it now runs across 34 countries and has impacted over 60 million children all around the world. Watch the video below for more.
