McCain Foods pizza range

Ready-to-eat pizza dinners and snacks have long been a go-to for families across Australia – easy, tasty and fun to share. Now, McCain’s revamped pizza range is offering the same crowd-pleasing flavour with a healthier twist.

Between 2020 and 2024, McCain Foods introduced nutritional improvements across its family and snack pizza lines.

Sodium levels dropped by an average of 8% across the range while individual products saw reductions as high as 22%. Saturated fat saw an even bigger shift – with an average reduction of 15%, from 4.8g to 4.1g per 100g.

The bigger picture

McCain Foods is a member of the Healthy Food Partnership, a government-industry initiative aimed at improving population diets. The reformulation of its pizza range reflects McCain’s commitment towards meeting the Partnership’s reformulation targets and the company has gone a step further by setting internal guardrails to maintain or lift Health Star Ratings (HSR) across its range.

These will guide future innovation and help ensure Partnership reformulation targets and HSR targets are considered when developing new pizza products.

Did you know?

The pizza refresh came alongside a packaging update across McCain’s snack and family pizza ranges, making it easier for shoppers to spot the new-look options in-store.

Fun fact

Today, 92% of McCain’s relevant pizza products meet the Healthy Food Partnership sodium targets. This is a significant leap forward in making pizza night a little bit healthier for Aussie families.
