ACCC launches anonymous reporting portal

19 June 2025

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has launched an anonymous reporting tool for potential misconduct under the Food and Grocery Code of Conduct. This includes contraventions that may result in significant financial penalties for supermarket retailers through to other enforcement actions for noncompliance.

In recognition of concern about potential consequences, to suppliers’ business if a noncompliance is reported, the portal was designed to receive anonymous reports. The ACCC are particularly interested in:

  • the details of the misconduct witnessed
  • what damage it has caused
  • what evidence there is to support the report

If businesses wish to remain anonymous any information or documents provided should not disclose identifying information.

Portal safeguards include:

  • Completely anonymous – the ACCC will never see usernames or emails. Randomly generated id and avatar for each report will be assigned
  • IP address is safe – temporarily reports IP address internally for security and operational purposes but it is never exposed externally or used to identify. Data is protected with AES – 256 encryption
  • System removes any identifying meta data from files shared via Whispli.

To understand what misconduct can be reported and how it works, visit the ACCC portal on Whispli.

The AFGC encourages members to raise any FGCC matter with codes@afgc.org.au.
