Food for Thought: What gets measured, gets reduced – Scope 3 Emissions

22 October 2025

We know climate reporting, especially when it comes to Scope 3 emissions, can be tricky. That’s why we’ve developed our Scope 3 Emissions Reporting Workbook. It aims to support manufacturers and suppliers in providing credible Australian-sourced emissions factors to meet their climate disclosure reporting obligations.

Scope 3 emissions make up a large portion of our sector’s carbon footprint. Reducing them demands collaboration across the value chain, and we remain committed to driving that collective effort.

We are now focused on supporting our members by delivering webinars to strengthen capability in climate disclosure reporting, engaging with retailers to streamline reporting, and partnering across the value chain to reduce the reporting burden.

By making reporting more efficient, we can help redirect resources toward meaningful collaboration and emissions reduction – vital steps on the path to Net Zero.

Beyond our own work, we recognise that progress on climate action depends on collective ambition, across industries, policymakers, and communities. Every effort counts toward building a more resilient, sustainable future.

You can access the Workbook here.

While helping members navigate climate action is a top priority, so is making our voice heard. We have been calling for changes to the National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) to enable our members to access the fund. At a recent Net Zero Fund roundtable with the Minister responsible, Tim Ayres, Colm highlighted our sector’s challenges and commitment. We were recognised as a strong case study, doing the work without access to key support like the NRF. This was a great spotlight for us and we are pleased to see this long advocacy push is being heard and acted on. Watch this space!
