Government acknowledges industry efforts in the Heathy Food Partnership

19 March 2025

Thanks to the advocacy efforts of the AFGC with the Department of Health and Ageing, three member companies in the reformulation initiative of the Healthy Food Partnership (HFP)—Kellanova, Mars Food, and Nestlé—were invited to present at the meeting of the HFP Executive Committee in February 2025.

Sharing their experiences and enthusiasm, the companies provided real world understanding of the challenges and successes of being part of the program. Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ged Kearney (Chair), along with several public health representatives, acknowledged the substantial efforts of these and the other participating companies, the majority of whom are members of the AFGC. There are now 15 companies participating in the voluntary Reformulation Initiative (up from 8 companies two years ago), underscoring the crucial role the sector plays in providing healthier food options and serving sizes for consumers.

It was also encouraging to hear Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Ged Kearney reaffirm the government’s commitment to the HFP, emphasising that support will continue if they are re-elected.
