Government seeking feedback from industry on the Healthy Food Partnership

7 October 2024

The Healthy Food Partnership (the Partnership) is an initiative that brings together governments, the public health sector and the food industry to tackle obesity, encourage healthy eating, and empower food manufacturers to make voluntary positive changes to their products to provide healthier food and beverage choices to Australians.

The Department of Health and Aged Care  is conducting a series of workshops to gather information on company experiences in participating in Wave 1 of the Reformulation Program, and the reasons why some companies are not participating in it. The objectives of the review are to:

  • Understand participating companies’ experiences in participating in Wave 1 of the Reformulation Program, including the challenges in meeting the reformulation targets, and suggestions for improvement in the program.
  • Identify barriers to participating in the Reformulation Program and options to increase participation.
  • Assess stakeholders’ perceptions of the merits of voluntary reformulation programs on changing the food supply and the effectiveness of Wave 1 of the Reformulation Program.
  • Assess the appropriateness and feasibility of the reformulation targets.
  • Ideas for improving the Reformulation Program.

The Department will be hosting a workshop for industry- only on Wednesday 6 November 2024, 10am-12:30pm, in Sydney CBD or online.

The AFGC strongly encourages non-participating companies to attend to help the Department understand your views on the reformulation program and  and barriers to participation.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by 18 October 2024  HealthyFoodPartnership@health.gov.au.

The Department welcomes participation from R&D/product technologists.
