Great Western Highway investment welcomed

The Federal and NSW Governments have announced a joint $200 million investment to rebuild and future-proof the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass, including an additional eastbound climbing lane to improve freight efficiency and safety.

Earlier this year, the AFGC raised concerns with NSW Government offices about the freight and supply chain impacts of the closure and attended regular Transport for NSW briefings to ensure industry concerns were understood. We welcome this outcome and the recognition of the corridor’s importance to freight movements, regional manufacturing and supply chain resilience.
