Nutrition and regulation

cans of processed foods

The food, beverage and grocery industry in Australia provides safe products to consumers. Through product innovation, labelling and promotion, the industry helps Australians make informed diet and lifestyle choices.

The AFGC works with members to promote the valuable role they play in health and nutrition. We support:

  • evidence-based policy that meets consumer needs and enables food businesses to innovate and leverage opportunities relating to health and wellness, sustainable solutions and safety
  • modernisation of the food regulatory system with an appropriate risk-based framework, so businesses are competitive, resilient and agile in domestic and export markets
  • clear, truthful and accurate information about products to support informed consumer choices.

Nutrition and health

Giving the public access to a wide range of food and drinks that can support a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Regulation and resources

Regulations on the labelling and composition of products plus resources to assist with regulatory compliance.
