Processed foods

Food processing is a general term for the various processes applied to food ingredients.

The NOVA classification system assesses foods and drinks based on the extent of processing. Some foods are classified as ultra-processed due to the type and number of processing methods and the use of certain ingredients.

To date, there is no scientific evidence that the level or degree of processing determines the nutritional content or value of the final product.
