This submission was provided on behalf of the AFGC and its members in response to the FSANZ webinar
and supporting consultation paper on the Health Star Rating (HSR) system. Our members represent a
diverse range of food companies and are committed to supporting evidence-based initiatives that enable
consumers to make healthier choices.
The AFGC and its members recognise the value of the HSR in providing clear, comparative nutrition
information and support maintaining a simple, consistent, and transparent framework. At the same time,
we emphasise that any mandatory application must be targeted, proportionate, and evidence-based to
ensure it delivers meaningful public health outcomes without creating unnecessary regulatory or
operational burden.
