Sustainability and Climate-related Financial Reporting

With the introduction of the Australian Accounting Standards Board’s mandatory climate disclosure standard (AASB S2), Australia’s largest listed and unlisted companies are required to build the internal capability, skills and understanding needed to implement and report against the new requirements. Group 1 reporters commenced their reporting period on 1 January 2025, and Group 2 reporters will begin from 1 January 2026, meaning preparation, upskilling and action are needed now.

We are pleased to announce a new collaboration between AFGC, Deloitte and RMIT Online (RMITO), offering AFGC members exclusive discounted access to the RMIT Future Skills: Sustainability and Climate-related Financial Reporting course. This program is designed to support the rapid capability uplift required under the new global and domestic reporting standards, providing your teams with the practical skills and tools needed to confidently navigate climate-related disclosures.

There are two delivery methods for the course, being the “Standard” option and the “Premium” option. Standard option offers 35–40 hours of self-paced online learning across an eight-week period. The Premium option includes all Standard content, with the added benefit of weekly one-hour live webinars facilitated by Deloitte subject matter experts and RMIT Online mentors. AFGC Members may enter the code AFGC1 at the checkout for 10% off.

The course provides practical, business-ready skills, including:

  • A clear understanding of the AASB S2 climate disclosure standard
  • The ability to identify and assess material climate-related risks and opportunities
  • Practical methods to integrate climate risk into financial performance assessments and reporting
  • The process and key inputs required to develop a credible climate transition plan, including resilience and decarbonisation targets
  • Strategies to enhance transparency, meet compliance requirements and position your organisation for long-term resilience

Upon successful completion, each learner receives an RMIT credential that can be validated, recognised, and shared across social media platforms and within your organisation.
