Wonder 5 Star Bread – A soft step up for gut health

Launched in May 2024, Goodman Fielder’s Wonder new 5 Star range is giving the classic Aussie sandwich staple a serious nutritional boost while keeping that familiar softness and taste.

Developed to meet the criteria for a 5 Health Star Rating (HSR), the range includes two new products: Wonder 5 Star Soft White and Wonder 5 Star Soft Multigrain – Prebiotic. Both offer a high-fibre, gut-friendly take on everyday bread and both are already award winners.

The Soft White loaf delivers three times the fibre of regular white bread, with one serve (two slices) providing over 25% of the recommended daily intake.

It also includes 6.8g of protein per serve and 4g of prebiotic fibre to help nourish good gut bacteria. And despite these additions, sodium levels sit at 350mg per 100g, which meets the Healthy Food Partnership target for leavened bread.

The Soft Multigrain loaf packs the same high fibre and prebiotic punch but adds visible whole grains – contributing 30% of daily whole grain needs. It also offers slightly higher protein and was the first Wonder loaf to feature whole grains.

The bigger picture

These new breads are part of Goodman Fielder’s broader commitment to improving product nutrition. The company has pledged that by the end of 2025, 70% of intended products will carry the Health Star Rating (HSR). HSR is helping to drive innovation and makes it easier for shoppers to make healthier choices.
