AFGC response to ACCC interim report

1 November 2024

The AFGC’s submission in response to the ACCC’s supermarkets inquiry interim report is now available on the AFGC Member Portal (you will need to be logged in to access). It will be published on the inquiry website in the coming days.

Next steps

The ACCC will consider feedback on its interim report from stakeholders – including the AFGC – as the inquiry proceeds.

The next stage is a series of three public hearings focused on consumers, supplier bodies and retailers. The hearings will be conducted under oath with criminal penalties for misleading statements or omissions. They will be livestreamed and, consistent with the experience to date, we are anticipating significant media interest. AFGC CEO Tanya Barden and Deputy CEO Samantha Blake will be representing our sector at supplier-focused public hearings on the afternoon of Thursday 7 November.

The ACCC’s final report is due to be provided to government no later than 28 February 2025.
