APCO Fee Model Consultation – Have Your Say

24 March 2025

Overview

The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) has announced they will release a Consultation Paper inviting feedback on proposed changes to the APCO Member fee model, scheduled to take effect in the 2026–27 financial year (FY27). This is a key opportunity for AFGC Members to influence the future funding approach that supports APCO’s work in evolving Australia’s packaging system.

Consultation Timeline

The consultation opens on 31 March 2025 and will run for six weeks

Why It Matters

Your feedback is vital to ensure the revised model is fair, transparent and aligned with Member needs. APCO seeks views on how fees are structured to better support long-term strategic goals, including those outlined in its 2030 Strategic Plan.

Engagement Opportunities

To help you understand the proposed changes and provide real-time input, APCO is hosting a series of in-person roadshows and an online webinar.

Registration information can be found here

Background Resources

Earlier webinars recordings and slides, outlining the development of APCO’s 2030 Strategic Plan and context are available here

Next Steps

AFGC encourages all Members to review the Consultation Paper and attend a session. Your input will help shape a fee model that supports a circular packaging economy and reflects industry expectations.

The AFGC will be developing a submission for this consultation and request that all members provide feedback by 30th April 2025 to Sarah Collier, Director – Sustainability (sarah.collier@afgc.org.au).

Please reach out to the AFGC team if you require any support or clarification.
