HSR support – identifying member needs

21 February 2025

Background

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has started preparatory work for mandating Health Star Rating (HSR) labelling in anticipation of industry not meeting voluntary adoption targets by November 2025. In response, the Australian Food and Grocery Council is exploring the need for additional support for its members in implementing HSR labelling. This may include establishing a member helpdesk, conducting webinars, developing practical resources or other support.

Member engagement

Kim Tonnet, who many of you may know, has been engaged to facilitate member engagement to understand:

  1. the needs of members to assist with HSR uptake on intended products in light of likely mandating in 2026
  1. the identification of resources or services, as well as the assessment of time and costs associated with these for the AFGC under a transition scenario.

AFGC Action

Kim Tonnet will be emailing relevant contacts in member companies to schedule time for discussions regarding your company’s HSR implementation status and potential benefits if the AFGC were to develop specific support services and/or resources.

All information gathered will be kept confidential and de-identified.
