After an extraordinary 21-year journey with the Australian Food and Grocery Council, Samantha Blake has announced her decision to step down from her role as Director of Retail, effective Tuesday 30 September.
Samantha’s impact on the AFGC has been nothing short of remarkable. Her unwavering dedication, deep expertise, and professionalism have helped shape the organisation and support our members through an ever-evolving and complex sector. Even after transitioning to a part-time role this year, Samantha continued to be a trusted advisor and a steady presence, always generous with her time, knowledge, and support. I have personally benefited from this selfless approach that always puts the AFGC and its members first.
Samantha’s leadership has left an indelible mark on the food and grocery industry. Her collaborative approach has driven significant advancements, notably in improving supply chain practices with key trading partners. She played a pivotal role in the development and embedding of the Food and Grocery Code of Conduct, which has helped regulate standards of business conduct and foster cooperation throughout the supply chain. Another standout achievement is her transformation of the content delivered at Food and Grocery Australia, our flagship industry event, along with the introduction of the Futures Leaders Forum and our Summit Series. Samantha has also been a tireless advocate for the industry, actively engaging in government processes and championing member interests.
At its most recent meeting, the Board had the pleasure of personally thanking Samantha for her outstanding contributions and recognising how many different facets of the sector have benefited from her years of hard work. In recent months, Samantha has played a pivotal role across several areas of the AFGC and has been instrumental in helping to shape the development of our future strategy. Her insights and leadership have helped guide the organisation’s direction and future focus.
While we will miss her presence, we celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Samantha will always be held in the highest regard by the AFGC and its members.
Please join me in recognising her phenomenal contributions and in wishing her every success and happiness in the next chapter.
And for those who know her well you’ll know she’s not one for the spotlight! So, feel free to drop her a line and share your well wishes personally for her contribution to the AFGC.
